Bend’s East Side will finally get some Bend Beer love in late 2012 or early 2013. It’s still quite a wait, but sounds like it will be worth waiting for. Especially if you have enjoyed Laurelwood Brewing.
Chad Kennedy is leaving Laurelwood after 9 years, 5 of them as their brewmaster, to start Worthy Brewing with attorney Roger Worthington (who is also a partner in Indie Hops). The name of the new brewery is a play on Roger Worthington’s name and a response to Stone Brewery’s Arrogant Bastard Ale mantra “you’re not worthy”.

The new brewery is reported to be located on a 26,000 sq/ft lot east of Northeast 27th Street along Highway 20. The facility will include a 30-barrel production facility, as well as a smaller pilot system, beer garden and tasting room.
Expect your favorite beer styles and a variety of experimental goodness especially with Worthington’s lupulin connection at Indie Hops. I imagine there will be some interesting creations and seeing as how Chad’s mentor is Christian Ettinger of Hopworks Urban Brewery, I might expect to see a lager at some point.
What do you think about another brewery opening in Bend?
Hello…I’m all for this new brewing company opening in Bend! I live real close to it and it will be great to have somewhere to go to relax nearby.
I got an email this morning from my brother in Bakersfield, CA asking if I knew Roger Worthington. My brother, Jack Skaggs is a bike rider and rides in races. Roger is going to be racing in Bakersfield coming up and sent out an email to fellow riders. My brother asked me if I knew him or not. I told him I heard of him but now I will have to meet him! Looking forward to it! Good Luck on your upcoming race, Roger! What a small world!
