More official brewery news was released yesterday about 10 Barrel and its plans to open up a new brew pub in Boise, Idaho.
Yesterday, the Idaho Statesman reported that a lease has been signed for “a building at 9th and Bannock streets owned by the Department of Lands.” Work will begin soon to retrofit the location for a restaurant and brewing equipment with the goal of having the new brew pub open by summer.
The real coup was luring Shawn Kelso away from Barley Browns brew pub in Baker City, Oregon to helm brewing operations at the new facility. Shawn is yet another well-respected, award-winning brewer joining the already impressive 10 Barrel team. One of the many things he’s known for is being among the bleeding edge brewers who embraced the Black IPA / Cascadian Dark Ale style of beer that has become so popular over the past couple of years. His version, “Turmoil”, is cited by many style guideline proponents as a benchmark example.
10 Barrel has said that Shawn will officially be Brewmaster of the new brew pub and will join Tonya Cornett and Jimmy Seifrit on the product development team.
Cheers to Shawn and the whole 10 Barrel team!
