This Saturday, September 24, is the Sisters Fresh Hop Festival. Organized in conjunction with the Oregon Brewers Guild’s hop festivals held around the state, this marks the second year the Sisters Chamber of Commerce is holding this festival, and they hope to once again overshoot their attendance estimates. Fresh hop beer festivals focus on beers that use are made with “wet” hops, typically cut off the vines on brew day, to shine the light on the chosen varietal’s green, grassy, resiny flavors that are typically lost during drying and packaging.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Erin Borla, Executive Director for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, and she let me know some of the details for the event.
Sisters Fresh Hop Festival
13 (and possibly more) breweries serving up at least one fresh hop beer, showcasing the raw, unprocessed goodness of fresh hops. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank, the Family Access Network and the Sisters Chamber of Commerce High School Scholarship Fund.
