Larry Sidor Bend OregonHappy New Year to all Bend beer lovers!

Friday December 30th construction began on yet another brewery in Bend, Oregon.  Former Deschutes Brewmaster, Larry Sidor and his partner are kicking the new year off with a sledgehammer.  Larry’s partner, Dave Wilson, is currently the VP of sales for the 21st Amendment in San Francisco. You may have seen 21A’s cans on the shelf or in your hand, they turn out some creative and tasty brews.  They plan to have the currently un-named brewery on Sowthwest Division Street open by June 2012.  The brewery will include a cozy tasting room where you will be able to taste some more complex and barrel-aged brews from Larry, as well as a handful of guest taps featuring eclectic brews from fellow brewers.  Sounds pretty fantastic to me!

In other New Year Brewery news, Gary Fish will be marking the expansion of the Deschutes Brewery’s Downtown Bend pub by connecting the two spaces tonight, Monday January the 2nd.  The pub will be closed for at least two weeks, but when they re-open in late January early February, there will be far less waiting for a table.  The new brew pub will have tripled in size and will include an exposed kitchen with expanded downstairs seating and a beautiful staircase leading to the 2nd floor that will offer balcony and atrium seating as well as a private events space with it’s own bar.
